Neil Rackers…. you must be breathing one huge sigh of relief right now. After missing a chip shot field goal from 34 yards out that would have won the game, the Green Bay Packers forced overtime by scoring 21 points in the 4th quarter of one of the highest scoring postseason football game in NFL history. Arizona Cardinal fans are ecstatic! Green Bay fans? Not so much….
As elated as they are in Arizona, no one can be happier than the Arizona Cardinals kicker Neil Rackers. Here’s a guy who has had a solid career kicking, yet when it matters the most, has habitually choked. On Sunday night, with 12 seconds left in the game, he inexcusably rushed a kick and pulled it wide left. The home team Arizona Cardinals were forced to go into overtime.
Can you imagine being Neil Rackers at the moment after he missed the kick? Can you imagine all the butterflies and having to face his teammates after a loss in a situation like that? He’s counting his lucky stars tonight as the Arizona Cardinals defense answered the bell in overtime.
Having been getting beat all night by the Aaron Rodgers led passing attack of Green Bay, diminutive defense back Michael Adams forced a fumble and a sack which Karlos Dansby picked up and raced to the end zone. Defensively, the Cardinals gave up yardage all over the field all night and picked just the right time to come to Neil Rackers rescue.
Congratulations Arizona Cardinals on an extremely hard fought victory. Neil Rackers is owes Michael Adams and Karlos Dansby dinner - for a month - every night - at the most expensive restaurant in Arizona.
