State of the Union 2010: “I do no accept second place for the United States of America”
Posted on January 28, 2010 by admin
Barack Obama wanted to hit to the core of every American when he stated, “I do not accept second-place for the United States of America.” With that slogan, Obama hit to nervous system and tried to incite a sense of passion and energy that Americans can rally around.
While the slogan might be a home run, the action behind the slogan is a strike out. Again. Without even swinging the bat, the worst kind of strike out - the one where you watch the pitch whiz down the middle of the plate and sit there while the umpire yells, “STRIKE THREE!”
What has Obama really done to this point? He’s tried to force feed a health care reform that no American wants. He’s sending 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan when Americans on both sides of the political specter are calling for no more war. He’s tripled the budget deficit into the trillions! TRILLIONS! How has ANY action been helpful to everyday American’s?
No offense Mr. President, but your policies are not just putting us in 2nd place, they’re not even allowing us to get on the playing field!
Let’s look at some other statements -
“To Democrats, I would remind you that we still have the largest majority in decades, and the people expect us to solve some problems, not run for the hills. And if the Republican leadership is going to insist that 60 votes in the Senate are required to do any business at all in this town, then the responsibility to govern is now yours as well.”
Is that amazing or what? Did he REALLY just say that? “the responsibility to govern is now yours as well”… well duh?! Who’s did he think it was? Democrats only? Each of our state senators and state representatives are elected to govern. When Barack Obama said that, I had a Homer Simpson moment. “DOH!”
Ultimately, the speech sounded like he was still campaigning instead of telling us what has been done over the past year. The State of the Union is not in better condition now then when President Obama took office, and that’s how the scale of judgment should be measured.
As Sharon Hacker of Las Vegas stated, “He’s still pushing things we don’t want, such as healthcare reform. Medics won’t be interested in providing quality care if there’s no profit in it for them. That’s why communism didn’t work.”
Could Sharon be onto something here?
Until Barack Obama can truly “change” and bring back a balance of government to free markets, his Presidency will be one of the grandest failures in American history.
