Super Bowl 34: Who choked more? Peyton Manning or the Indianapolis Colts Defense?

Depending on the viewpoint one takes when analyzing the Super Bowl, the same questions come to mind:

What happened to Peyton Manning?
Where was the Colts Defense?
Has Drew Brees ALWAYS been this good?
What was Reggie Wayne doing on that interception play?
How come the Colts defense didn’t blitz more after Drew Brees was picking them apart?

As far as stats go, Peyton Manning threw for 333 yards. Drew Brees threw for 288. The difference maker was in their passer ratings… Drew Brees was 114.5. Peyton Manning? 88.5

People have looked and tried to analyze Super Bowl 34 all day long, but Peyton Manning has nothing to apologize for. Pierre Garcon didn’t help much with that dropped pass in the 2nd quarter. The defense didn’t help much because it was playing on its heals the whole afternoon. Did the Colts defense even blitz once in the second half? Why did they choose to just sit back and let Drew Brees pick them apart?

A few more questions:

Why did it take the officials so long to break up the pile after the onside kick the New Orleans Saints used to open the 2nd half? (Did you notice the Colts players recover the ball underneath the Saints players legs?)

How can the officials overturn the call by the sideline judge who ruled the ball incomplete after it was bobbled on the 2-point conversion? That one was a shocker. Doesn’t the rule state “conclusive evidence”?

Ultimately, the Colts lost the game to a much more aggressive and alert football team. Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints deserve all the credit in the world for their swagger. WHO DAT?!

Who was more at fault for the Colts loss? Peyton Manning or the Colts Defense? Or was Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints just too good?
